Cummings defeated Ed Herman via TKO (punches) at 4:13 of Round 3 at UFC on ESPN 44 on Saturday in Kansas City. He retired following the fight.
ANALYSIS
Cummings and Herman both decided to hang up their gloves at the conclusion of the bout. Fighting for the first time in nearly three years and competing at home in Kansas City, it was the perfect time for Zak to step aside. He battered Herman the entire fight and was never remotely threatened by his opponent. Set to turn 39 years of age in early August, Cummings quietly closes his UFC career with an impressive 10-4 mark. Zak competed against the likes of Tim Kennedy, Gunnar Nelson and Santiago Ponzinibbio over the course of his career. Cummings made his professional debut way back in November 2007.

Takes tight decision in Vegas

Cummings defeated Alessio Di Chirico via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It was a typical ugly Cummings fight in the sense that his durability ultimately carried him to the victory. Cummings and Di Chirico fought to just about even terms on the feet in what was essentially a 15-minute kickboxing match, but Cummings' legendary chin held up (he has never been knocked out in his long pro career), and he did just enough in the striking game to pull out the decision. To Cummings' credit, he almost certainly would have won this fight via knockout if there was even a single additional second in Round 3. He clocked Di Chirico with a high kick just as the closing bell rang. Cummings improves to 3-1 in his past four fights dating back to December 2018.
Booked against Di Chirico

June 24, 2020
Cummings will take on Alessio Di Chirico in a middleweight matchup August 29 at a yet-to-be-determined location, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Cummings may be coming off a loss, but he's 8-5 with the company and is facing a fighter coming off back-to-back losses of his own. While Cummings will sport a one-inch reach advantage on fight night, most of the statistical edges (striking volume, takedown average, takedown defense) fall in the favor of his opponent. Cummings does absorb less significant strikes per minute on average, but he still absorbs more than he lands overall through that 13-fight span. He's also the older fighter by more than five years.
