Drops main event as huge favorite

Dawson lost to Bobby Green via KO (punches) at 0:33 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Thanks for stopping by. Entering with a 9-0-1 record in his first ten UFC bouts, it took all of 33 seconds and one Green jab to flush all Dawson's hard work the past four-and-a-half years down the drain. Grant didn't look comfortable in the opening seconds of the fight. He was eventually dropped by a Green jab and finished with some follow-up shots. Dawson won't be 30 years of age until next February, so there's time for him to rebound from this disaster, but it's going to be difficult. He entered as a -500 favorite against a 37-year-old opponent.

Dawson will fight Bobby Green as the headliner for UFC's Oct. 7 event, Mike Heck of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dawson will look to remain unbeaten in UFC and ascend the lightweight ranks in October against Green. Dawson is fresh off a unanimous decision win over Damir Ismagulov in July and boasts a 9-0-1 record at the UFC level.
Standout performance in easy win
LightweightUFC
July 1, 2023
Dawson defeated Damir Ismagulov via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Dawson could not have looked any better in a fight that went off as essentially a pick 'em. An elite wrestler, Dawson landed one takedown in each round, ultimately earning no less than 3:55 worth of control time in all three frames. All told, he was credited with 12:24 worth of control time in a 15-minute bout. He expertly controlled Ismagulov on the mat, constantly working for a better position and not allowing his opponent any chance of turning the tide. This was a flawless effort from start to finish by a terrific fighter. The 29-year-old American Top Team product is 9-0-1 in his first ten UFC bouts. Big things await Dawson.
Ismagulov fight scheduled
LightweightUFC
May 11, 2023
Dawson will Damir Ismagulov in a lightweight bout at UFC Vegas 76 on July 1, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Now ranked No. 15 in the UFC's lightweight rankings, Dawson has an opportunity to climb them further with his fight against a supposedly retirement-focused competitor in No. 12 Ismagulov. He snapped a 19-fight winning streak with a decisive decision defeat to Arman Tsarukyan at UFC Fight Night 216 back in December.
Remains unbeaten in UFC

November 5, 2022
Dawson defeated Mark Madsen via submission (rear-naked choke) at 2:05 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It was a brilliant performance from Dawson that is somewhat muted by the fact he missed weight by two and a half pounds Friday morning. Dawson accepted this fight on just a couple weeks' notice after Drakkar Klose was forced to withdraw, so perhaps that explains it. Facing an opponent that is a former Olympic silver medalist in wrestling, Dawson turned the tables on Madsen. He landed just 2-of-6 takedown attempts, but those two tries turned into 9:31 worth of control time in a fight which lasted barely 12 minutes. Assuming he can get the weight cutting issues under control, Dawson is clearly a fighter to keep an eye on moving forward. He is now 7-0-1 in his first eight UFC bouts and on the verge of a spot in the rankings in a loaded 155-pound division.
