Dawson accepted this fight on just a couple weeks' notice after Drakkar Klose was forced to withdraw, so perhaps that explains it. Facing an opponent that is a former Olympic silver medalist in wrestling, Dawson turned the tables on Madsen. He landed just 2-of-6 takedown attempts, but those two tries turned into 9:31 worth of control time in a fight which lasted barely 12 minutes. Assuming he can get the weight cutting issues under control, Dawson is clearly a fighter to keep an eye on moving forward. He is now 7-0-1 in his first eight UFC bouts and on the verge of a spot in the rankings in a loaded 155-pound division.
