DraftKings NHL: Monday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Monday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

There are six NHL games Monday, but it is an atypical slate. Since it's President's Day, there are three matinee outings, which you can play in daily fantasy if you like. However, this article pertains to the three evening games, which are a slate of their own. To try and make this a nice holiday for you, here are some guys that seem like particularly good fantasy values to me.

GOALIE

Marc-Andre Fleury, VGK vs. ANA ($8,300): The Golden Knights, who are 7-3-0 in their last 10 games, have been stellar at home. Vegas has a 22-4-2 record in their own arena. Fleury has been a big part of that success when healthy, picking up 19 wins and posted a 2.06 GAA and a .932 save percentage in 27 games. The Ducks have a bottom 10 offense based on both shots and goals per game, so they likely won't threaten Fleury much.

CENTER

Erik Haula, VGK vs. ANA ($6,200): Haula has been playing some great, and symmetrical, hockey recently. Over his last 14 games he has 14 points, seven goals and seven assists. The Ducks have a 2.73 team GAA, which isn't bad but is only fourth best among teams in action Monday. Anaheim has allowed 33.4 shots on net per game as well, which is bottom five in the NHL.

Ryan Johansen, NAS vs. OTT ($5,600): Johansen has scored two of his seven goals in his last nine games, and he has six assists in those outings as well. He's also averaged 3:11 per game with the extra man and tallied 12 power-play points in 54 games. The Senators have a 3.40 team GAA, second worst in the league, and they also have the 29th-ranked penalty kill.

WING

Viktor Arvidsson, NAS vs. OTT ($6,000): Arvidsson has 18 goals on 162 shots through 55 games. Over his last 12 outings he's tallied five goals and five assists. I just mentioned how bad the Senators have been defensively. In addition to their 3.40 team GAA, the Senators have allowed 33.3 shots on net per contest.

Dustin Brown, LOS at CHI ($5,100): Brown's goal scoring has dropped, but he does have seven assists in his last 11 games. Plus, he has 34 shots on net in those 11 contests, so he's still staying active offensively. Anton Forsberg (2.95 GAA, .908 save percentage) is still the primary goalie for the Blackhawks with Corey Crawford out. He's been even worse recently, as he has a 3.24 GAA and an .878 save percentage in February.

Alex DeBrincat, CHI vs. LOS ($4,600): Though Jonathan Quick is usually thought of as being one of the league's better goalies, over his last 15 games he has a 3.10 GAA and a .903 save percentage. With only six teams in action, it's worth rolling the dice that Quick's struggles will continue. DeBrincat has a four-game point streak and on top of that he has eight goals in his last 11 contests.

DEFENSE

P.K. Subban, NAS vs. OTT ($6,000): Subban leads the Predators with 45 points, including 19 on the power play. The Senators are far and away the worst defensive team in action Monday, making Nashville's matchup clearly the best of the bunch. Ottawa has a 3.40 team GAA and the 29th-ranked penalty kill, so Subban is worth spending money on, especially with a lack of other favorable options on defense.

Jake Muzzin, LOS at CHI ($5,000): Muzzin has averaged 3.4 fantasy points per game, thanks in part to the 33 points he's tallied in 55 games. That includes 11 power-play points, six of which have come in his last 12 contests. Chicago has allowed 32.0 shots on net per game, and as previously mentioned it is stuck with Forsberg tending goal.
