FanDuel NHL: Friday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Friday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Goalie

Malcolm Subban, VGK at FLA ($8,100): Subban has won his last seven starts and performed admirably in the absence of Marc-Andre Fleury. The Panthers average 34.6 shots on goal per game, the second highest mark in the NHL, which heightens Subban's upside with plenty of opportunities for him to rack up points with saves. With Vegas playing their second game in as many nights, I would expect Subban to get the start, but if he doesn't, Fleury is a fine pivot at the same salary.

Center

Jonathan Drouin, MTL at WAS ($5,400): Drouin comes in with a goal and two assists in his last four games. The Capitals played just last night against the Devils in a game that they lost in overtime. With Philipp Grubauer expected to get the start, the Canadiens and Drouin look poised to score some goals. These two teams have combined for more than five goals per game over their last eight matchups. Drouin has been moved to right wing, which I think will lead to more production moving forward beginning tonight.

Erik Haula, VGK at FLA ($5,600): Haula and the Golden Knights continue to surprise everyone in the hockey world, as they are in first place in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference. They're third in the NHL with 3.33 goals scored per game including four tallies last night against the Lightning in Tampa Bay. The Panthers are coming off of their bye week and have struggled defensively allowing 3.21 goals per game, fourth-most in the NHL. Haula has been a road warrior this season with nine of his 15 goals coming away from home.

Wing

Evgenii Dadonov, FLA vs. VGK ($5,000): Dadonov has bounced back and forth from the first and second line for the majority of the season, and has been productive in pretty much any situation. He has nine goals and 17 assists in 35 games and is riding a four-game point streak. Over that span he has two goals and three assists with one of those tallies coming on the power play. Regardless of what line he skates on tonight, Dadonov is a great value in a game that projects to see a lot of scoring.

Dustin Brown, LAK at ANH ($5,900): The veteran and former captain of the Kings has enjoyed success against the Ducks. He has four goals in his last five games against the Western Conference rivals, and 25 goals in 75 career games against them. He has 17 points in 22 road games this season and lines up on the first line and top power-play unit.

Reilly Smith, VGK at FLA ($5,700): Much like teammate Jonathan Marchessault, Smith has enjoyed success against his former team this season. In their only meeting thus far, Smith had two assists and two shots on goal. He has two goals and three assists in his last five games and should produce against his former team again.

Defense

Hampus Lindholm, ANH vs. LAK ($4,500): Deciding on which Anaheim defenseman to roster night in and night out is tricky, but Lindholm comes in with points in four of his last six games. He has seven goals, two on the power play, and nine assists in 33 games this season. Lindholm is averaging just under two shots on goal per game and mans the point on the second power-play unit. He'll look to build on the success he's had against the Kings in his career against whom he has 12 points in 22 games.

Jake Muzzin, LAK at ANH ($4,500): Muzzin, not Drew Doughty, but Jake Muzzin has points in four of his last five games. He has three goals and 21 assists on the season and is the eighth-highest priced defenseman tonight. With a solid volume of shots per game (2.21), ice time (over 22 minutes) and power play time, Muzzin should reach value with ease tonight.
