FanDuel NHL: Sunday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Sunday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Goalie

Jake Allen, STL vs BUF ($8,400): Allen has won his last three starts and has been particularly good at home this season. He's allowed just four goals in his last three games and gets a soft matchup against the Sabres, who are near the bottom in the league in scoring. At $8,400, assuming Allen starts, he's probably the most popular play on the slate.

Center

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, EDM at TOR ($5,600): Heading into Saturday, Nugent-Hopkins had a goal in three of his last four games. He now has 11 scores and nine assists on the season as the second-line center has slid into a role that works for him behind Connor McDavid. With his average ice time at over 17 minutes per game and his exposure on the power play, Nugent-Hopkins offers a solid floor and decent upside at his salary in what figures to be a high-scoring game.

Paul Stastny, STL vs BUF ($5,200): While the top line for St. Louis was jumbled around a bit, Stastny finds himself on that unit centering Vladimir Tarasenko and Vladimir Sobotka. Although he has just one point in his last six games, skating with Tarasenko gives Stastny a major bump. At home against the Sabres, who have struggled all season, the Blues should be busy around the net.

Wing

Connor Brown, TOR vs EDM ($3,400): Brown was able to break out of his six-game scoring drought on Saturday with a first-period goal against the Penguins. In what seemed odd at the time, Brown has supplanted William Nylander for the time being on the Maple Leafs' top line, skating alongside Auston Matthews and Zach Hyman. He's not seeing a ton of minutes, about 15 per game and is not a high-volume shoots, around 1.20 shots on goal per game, but Brown does have nine goals including one on the power play and makes the most of his ice time with a total of 14 points.

Brandon Saad, CHI vs ARI ($5,400): With just a goal and assist in his last four games, Saad looks to a juicy matchup against the Coyotes to get back on track. He does have 10 goals on the season and is averaging over three shots on goal per game, so there is some hope here. Another factor the supports Saad is the numbers that the Coyotes have allowed to left wingers ( 26 goals and 33 assists in 31 games).

Vladimir Sobotka, STL vs BUF ($4,100): Sobotka, who's skating on the top line these days, has a point in three of his last four games, totaling a goal and three assists over that span. The Sabres have allowed the most fantasy points to left wingers this season with 34 goals and 36 assists against in 29 games.

Defense

Oscar Klefbom, EDM at TOR ($4,800): Klefbom hasn't been as productive as last season to this point, but he finds himself in a good matchup against the Maple Leafs, who have allowed the most fantasy points to the position. Even if Klefbom isn't racking up the points with just two goals and five assists, he is averaging 2.89 shots on goal per game, 2.04 blocks per game and seeing power-play time with the first unit. He has a solid floor relative to his salary and does have offensive upside based on how involved he is when the Oilers are in the opposing zone.

Duncan Keith, CHI vs ARI ($5,100): The future Hall of Famer has been playing at such a high level for such a long time that we as fans have been spoiled. Looking at his production this season, it's clear that he's not having one of his better seasons of his career. On the bright side, Keith draws a great matchup against the Coyotes, who have allowed the second-most fantasy points to the position this season. He's a strong buy, considering he plays nearly 25 minutes per game, gets pucks to the net and blocks shots.
