Yahoo DFS Hockey: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Hockey series.

A full 10-game slate Tuesday has some great plays and hidden values to choose from. Let's take a look at some of the prime choices.

Goalie

Jonathan Quick, LA vs. MIN ($30)

Quick's daily pricing has not recovered from the six-game losing streak he suffered in the middle of November, as he enters Tuesday's slate as the seventh priced goalie. Despite the rough patch, the Connecticut native ranks third among qualified keepers in GAA, fifth in save percentage, and even seventh in wins. A home matchup against a middle-of-the-road Wild offense should be very enticing given this generous price.

Goalie to Avoid

Henrik Lundqvist, NYR @ PIT ($34)

The month of December has not been kind to Lundqvist throughout his career, as he's annually posted a lower save percentage (.910) and higher GAA (2.59) than in any other month. The Penguins lit up King Henrik for five goals in their first meeting this season, following a career trend that has seen him struggle against Pittsburgh. Add in the fact that the Penguins average 3.50 home goals per game, and Lundqvist is quite unappealing.

Center

Jonathan Marchessault, VGK vs. ANH ($19)

Marchessault has played like an elite center the last couple of weeks, racking up 13 points, 31 shots on goal, and a plus-6 rating in his last seven contests. The 26-year-old is still firing shots from the blue line on the Golden Knights' efficient first power play unit and Anaheim's likely Tuesday starter, John Gibson, has looked vulnerable of late, losing four of his last five and showing a .909 save percentage over that span.

Center to Avoid

Brayden Schenn, STL @ MON ($25)

After starting the season on an absolutely torrid pace, Schenn currently finds himself in a serious cold streak, as he has not found the scoresheet in five consecutive games and has taken just 11 shots on goal in that time. The Saskatchewan native has never historically been an elite scorer and he may find it difficult to get back on track Tuesday against a Canadiens team that has been better defensively of late.

Wing

Anders Lee, NYI @ TB ($22)

In what figures to be a high scoring affair in Tampa Bay, Lee checks in as one of the best valued options you can get from the matchup Tuesday. The Minnesota native has found twine in his last three games and has recorded nine of his 25 points this season on the power play, which speaks to his relevancy there. Lee is a nice choice if you can find space for him in your budget.

Alex Killorn, TB vs. NYI ($13)

On the other end of the ice, an ultra-cheap option can be found in the power-play specialist Killorn. The 28-year-old has managed a large chunk of his scoring with the man advantage this season, recording six of his 16 points in those situations. The Islanders rank 24th in the NHL in penalty killing percentage, so Killorn represents a cheap way to get in on the Lightning's potential offensive storm Tuesday.

Wings to Avoid

Evander Kane, BUF @ COL ($23)

It's growing increasingly difficult to trust Kane or anyone on the Sabres for that matter -- the Vancouver native has one point in the last four games and is stuck meandering about in an offense that averages a pathetic 2.07 goals per game. The Avalanche have been solid on home ice so far this season, allowing 2.85 goals per game, so you shouldn't pay this kind of coin for Kane when he's far from a sure thing.

Anthony Mantha, DET vs. WPG ($17)

Mantha is one of the more reliable offensive options on the Detroit offensive, but lately it's his lack of effort on defense that has been getting him killed in daily play -- the 23-year-old sports a hideous minus-9 rating and has just three points in his last eight contests. The Jets allow just 2.63 goals per game on average and are quite potent offensively as well, so steer clear of Mantha on Tuesday.

Defense

Tyson Barrie, COL vs. BUF ($17)

Barrie presents stupendous value at his Wednesday price do to his ongoing involvement in the surprisingly explosive Colorado offense. The veteran blueliner continues to quarterback the first power-play unit, which converts 19.2 percent of its chances, and has taken at least one shot -- maxing out at six -- in each of the last nine contests. He should prove a solid source of production against a Buffalo team that is bad on both ends of the ice.

Shea Theodore, VGK vs. ANH ($15)

Theodore is another defenseman showing tremendous upside due to his ability to fire the puck on net -- in nine games since returning from injury, the lefty defenseman has fired 24 shots on goal, with at least one coming in each game. With extra adrenaline running in his veins while facing his former team, Theodore could be a good bet to provide some fantasy points, especially when considering the huge number of currently injured Ducks.

Defensemen to Avoid

Roman Josi, NSH @ DAL ($26)

Josi's Tuesday price makes him the second most expensive defenseman on the board, and that's a bit difficult to justify considering the way he's been playing recently -- the Predators' captain has just three points and a minus-3 rating in his last six contests and has even seen an erratic amount of ice time with the man advantage. His plus-minus could continue to suffer against a Stars squad that averages 3.58 goals per game in Dallas.

David Schlemko, MON vs. STL ($18)

Schlemko has looked decent in his first three games as a Canadien after missing the first 25 games with a hand injury, but his role with the club is still too undefined to justify his usage. The 30-year-old has been all over the place in terms of defensive pairings and ice time, and it's resulted in an inability to find the scoresheet thus far. Playing against a tough Blues teams likely won't assuage those concerns.
