DraftKings NHL: Saturday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Sergei Bobrovsky, CLM at WAS ($7,500): There are red flags here. Columbus is playing its second game in consecutive nights, and Washington owns plenty of offensive talent. However, Bobrovsky's salary is way down considering he boasts a 14-5-1 record with a .935 save percentage and 1.92 GAA. The reigning Vezina Trophy winner is capable of stealing a game against any team, so he's definitely worth a long look.

CENTER

Ryan Johansen, NAS vs. ANA ($5,500): After a slow start to the season, Johansen has collected three goals, nine points and 16 shots through his past eight games. The heater aligns with the acquisition of Kyle Turris to center the second line, so the uptick in production has substance. Of course, the real draw here is the matchup against Anaheim. The Ducks are playing their second road game in consecutive nights and have allowed the most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes in the league.

Jason Spezza, DAL vs. CHI ($3,700): This salary lands Spezza in flier territory, and while his three goals and nine points through 25 games don't jump off the page, he's still skating in an offensively tilted role. The veteran is beginning 55.7 percent of his five-on-five shifts in the opponent's zone and averaging 1:59 of power-play time per contest, after all. It's also important to note that Chicago has surrendered the third most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes, so the matchup checks out.

WING

Johnny Gaudreau, CGY vs. EDM ($7,500): Edmonton has allowed 3.54 goals and 11.72 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes over its past 10 games, so the Oilers stand as a vulnerable opponent. Additionally, No. 1 netminder Cam Talbot is out with an upper-body injury. Gaudreau is reeling along in a three-game point drought, so this is a ripe spot for a rebound showing. It's also worth noting that Gaudreau has been a dominant scorer at the Scotiabank Saddledome with 39 goals and 115 points through 90 games the past three years.

Jake Guentzel, PIT vs. BUF ($5,500): The sophomore was locked in with Phil Kessel and Evgeni Malkin during Friday's win over the Sabres, and Guentzel scored a goal to improve to nine tallies, 11 points and 31 shots through his past 12 outings. The trio has combined for an impressive 4.62 goals per 60 minutes over the past two years, and Buffalo has allowed the most goals per 60 minutes on the road this season.

Max Domi, ARI vs. NJD ($3,400): The Devils enter on the second leg of back-to-back road games and will be starting Keith Kinkaid (.906 save percentage and 3.04 GAA), so this is a soft schedule spot for the Coyotes. Domi has a pair of multi-point showings through his past six outings for a goal, five assists and 17 shots total. At this price, Domi checks out as an upside source of cap relief.

DEFENSE

Kris Letang, PIT vs. BUF ($5,900): This is a reasonable salary for Letang. He's the power-play quarterback on the No. 1 unit and has collected seven assists while logging 24:57 of ice time (3:00 with the man advantage) through his past nine contests. The Penguins topped Buffalo 4-0 on the road Friday, and the Sabres enter this tilt in Pittsburgh allowing a league-high 3.8 goals per road game.

Morgan Rielly, TOR at VAN ($5,200): After recording three goals, 14 assists and 50 shots through the first 20 games of the campaign, Reilly has now missed the scoresheet in seven consecutive outings. Look for a bounce-back showing from the Vancouver, B.C. native against his struggling hometown team, as the Canucks have allowed 3.36 goals per 60 minutes through its past 10 outings.
