DraftKings NHL: Friday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Friday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Thomas Greiss, NYI vs. OTT ($7,600): The Senators scored two goals of fewer in each contest during their current seven-game losing streak, and Ottawa has also generated the second fewest high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes in the league this season. With the Islanders sporting an 8-0-2 record at home, Greiss and his five-game winning streak are attractive at this price.

CENTER

Mark Scheifele, WPG vs. VGK ($7,200): The Golden Knights have lost consecutive games and enter this contest with a 6-6-1 record on the road. Additionally, there's a stark disparity in Vegas' goals against (3.35) and high-danger scoring chances surrendered (11.18) per 60 minutes away from Sin City. Start Scheifele confidently.

Alex Kerfoot, COL vs. NJD ($3,500): With eight goals, nine assists and six multi-point showings through 23 games this season, this salary doesn't align with Kerfoot's upside. He's locked into a top-six role, skating with the No. 1 power-play unit and collected 45 points through just 36 games during his senior season at Harvard last year.

WING

Cam Atkinson, CLM vs. ANA ($6,100): With just two goals and two assists through his past 10 games, Atkinson is in need of a slump-busting matchup. His current 8.8 shooting percentage is well below the 13.3 mark he posted over the previous two seasons, so positive regression is likely ahead. Additionally, this is an opportune spot with Anaheim allowing the most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes in the league.

Sebastian Aho, CAR at NYR ($5,600): The Rangers have surrendered the second most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (12.88), so this is a ripe fantasy setup for the Hurricanes. Aho is locked into a thriving top line with Jordan Staal and Teuvo Teravainen, and the trio has scored 5.61 goals per 60 minutes and own a dominant 67.8 Corsi For percentage.

Jake Guentzel, PIT at BUF ($5,300):Evgeni Malkin's (upper body) status clouds things a little bit, but Guentzel has been scoring with whoever he's played with of late. The sophomore has collected eight goals, 10 points and 28 shots through his past 11 contests, and Buffalo has allowed the fourth most goals per 60 minutes (3.33) in the league.

DEFENSE

Seth Jones, CLM vs. ANA ($5,300): As noted, this is a cushy matchup for the Blue Jackets, which is exactly what Jones needs. He enters with a 10-game point drought despite logging 24:55 of ice time (2:32 on the power play) and registering 36 shots. His peripheral coverage and role provide a nice production floor, but the offense is coming sooner than later. Jones recorded three goals and nine assists through the first 15 games of the campaign, after all.

Dustin Byfuglien, WPG vs. VGK ($5,200): A strong stack candidate with Mark Scheifele in the noted soft matchup, Byfuglien found the scoresheet last time out and continues to log huge minutes (24:07 per game with 3:17 on the power play). With Winnipeg averaging 4.0 goals per home game, look for Byfuglien to mark the points column for a second consecutive game.
