DraftKings NHL: Saturday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Scott Darling, CAR at BUF ($7,200): The Sabres are on the wrong end of a back-to-back set after losing 3-1 to Detroit on Friday. Additionally, Buffalo has scored the fewest goals per game (2.37) and generated a league-low 8.48 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes at five-on-five. Of course, Darling is coming off a dreadful showing of his own, but this is a ripe bounce-back spot. He could also carry a low ownership percentage despite the manageable salary.

CENTER

Brayden Schenn, STL at VAN ($6,300): With four goals, 10 assists and 16 shots during his current six-game point streak, Schenn's salary stands out as a clear discount. The relocation to St. Louis has been a smashing success, and the 26-year-old center has combined with linemates Jaden Schwartz and Vladimir Tarasenko for a dominant 6.35 goals per 60 minutes this year.

Ryan Johansen, NAS vs. COL ($4,600): The Avs have surrendered the second most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (13.09) at five-on-five, and Johansen posted his first multi-point showing since the first game of the season last time out. With a favorable matchup and top offensive minutes, the pivot's salary provides excellent value.

WING

Filip Forsberg, NAS vs. COL ($6,300): As noted, this is a ripe matchup with Colorado having allowed 28 goals through its past six road contests. Forsberg enters with a three-game point streak and six goals, six helpers and 25 shots through seven home games this season. He's a strong stack option alongside Johansen, and the 23-year-old winger's salary isn't prohibitive.

Jaden Schwartz, STL at VAN ($6,100): In the midst of a true breakout campaign, Schwartz has seven multi-point showings this season and marked the scoresheet in 17 of 21 contests for 10 goals and 16 assists. As noted, he's thriving with linemates Schenn and Tarasenko, and the on-paper matchup doesn't jump off the page. There's potential for the St. Louis top line to have a lower ownership percentage than it should.

Teuvo Teravainen, CAR at BUF ($4,800): This is a soft schedule spot for Carolina, as the Buffalo defense corps features an underwhelming collection of talent. Teravainen, on the other hand, has caught fire (three goals and eight points through four games) in a top-line gig with Jordan Staal and Sebastian Aho. Additionally, the 23-year-old Finn's fantasy floor is elevated due to his career-high minutes on the power play (3:01 per game) this season.

DEFENSE

Kris Letang, PIT vs. CHI ($5,900): It's rare to see Letang carrying a salary below $6,000, especially with him entering this contest in solid form. Pittsburgh's go-to offensive defenseman has four helpers, 10 shots and an average of 26:06 (3:23 on the power play) through his past three games. Additionally, the Blackhawks have allowed the sixth most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (12.07) in the league this season.

Justin Faulk, CAR at BUF ($4,500): After posting 1.28 points per 60 minutes last season, Faulk's current 0.46 mark is unsustainably low. He's still skating with the No. 1 power-play unit and has recorded a career-high 3.18 shots per game this year. Statistical correction is ahead, so with a soft matchup and target-worthy salary, Faulk's a strong lean.
