DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

There are four NHL games Sunday, providing you with a respite from the NFL should you want one. These games also give you the chance to play some daily fantasy hockey, so here are some players to consider for your lineup…

GOALIE

Braden Holtby, WAS vs. EDM ($7,900): Washington's overall defensive numbers aren't great, and the poor play of Philipp Grubauer is skewing them. Holtby has been excellent as usual, as he has a 2.48 GAA and a .924 save percentage. Edmonton, like Grubauer, is off to a slow start, as the Oilers have scored a league-low 2.33 goals per game. That number will improve, but it likely won't be on the road against Holtby.

CENTER

Evgeny Kuznetsov, WAS vs. EDM ($6,500): Kuznetsov has started 56.4 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, the most of any Capitals forward. On top of that, he's now centering a line with Alex Ovechkin on it, which is probably why he already has 16 assists. Kuznetsov has also averaged 3:54 per game on the power play, notching six points in that time. The Oilers have the league's worst penalty kill to start the season.

Brayden Point, TAM at ANA ($5,400): Point is being overshadowed by a couple high-scoring teammates, but he has averaged 4.0 fantasy points per game. He's notched 17 points through 17 games, and nine in his last nine. The Ducks are missing their top two centers, which will make the matchup easier for Point, and they've allowed 34.3 shots on net per contest.

WING

Brandon Saad, CHI vs. NJD ($6,300): Both Chicago and New Jersey are on the second night of a back-to-back, but the Devils are the ones who will likely be starting their backup netminder in Keith Kinkaid, who has a 2.88 GAA and .903 save percentage. Saad broke a lengthy scoring drought Saturday, and he has 29 shots on his last eight games, so more points should be coming.

Rickard Rakell, ANA vs. TAM ($6,000): At least Rakell is still healthy for the Ducks and receiving career-high ice time. Rakell has averaged 20:27 per game, including 3:38 with the extra man. He's notched six goals on 44 shots through 16 games, tallying five power-play points.

T.J. Oshie, WAS vs. EDM ($5,700): After scoring 33 goals in 68 games last season, Oshie has seven goals through 17 contests. Five of those have come on the power play, and Oshie has averaged 3:47 per game with the extra man.

DEFENSEMEN

Duncan Keith, CHI vs. NJD ($4,900): Keith doesn't have a goal yet, but he has 45 shots on net though 17 games. A few goals will come eventually, and in the meantime he's notched eight helpers. The Devils have allowed a lot of shots this season, so they likely won't clamp down Keith, especially on the second night of a back-to-back.

Mikhail Sergachev, TAM at ANA ($4,400): The Lightning have tried to make things easy for the 19-year-old rookie, as he's started 71.1 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone. That's the most of any player on the Lightning, and an incredibly high number for a defenseman. It's paid off for Sergachev, as he has 12 points through 17 games. Five of those have come on the power play, making Sergachev an even better fantasy option.
