DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Antti Raanta, ARI at VGK ($7,600): The first-year Coyote made 40 saves in his Arizona debut against Vegas last time out, so with a manageable salary, Raanta is a strong lean. The Golden Knights have scored just four goals through two games, but they came away with the win in both outings. With a .925 save percentage and 2.17 GAA since the 2014-15 campaign, look for Raanta to turn in another strong performance to help led Arizona over Vegas.

CENTER

Ryan Johansen, NSH vs. PHI ($6,000): After collecting a pair of helpers in the season opener, Johansen -- and the entire team -- were held off the scoresheet Saturday. This sets up as a soft matchup for Nashville, as the Flyers are playing their fourth road game in seven nights to start the season. In a weak pool of centers, Johansen offers excellent upside at this salary.

Bo Horvat, VAN vs. OTT ($4,800): After showing significant improvement in consecutive seasons, Horvat opened 2017-18 with a two-goal showing. The Senators have two games in a shootout to start the season and sport a 43.7 Corsi For percentage at even strength. Of course, it's the absence of Erik Karlsson (foot) that softens this matchup the most for Vancouver.

WING

Filip Forsberg, NSH vs. PHI ($6,600): An obvious stack candidate alongside Ryan Johansen, Forsberg has consecutive 30-goal campaigns on his resume and is just entering his prime at 23-years-old. As noted, this is a tough schedule spot for the Flyers, so Forsberg should have a number of scoring opportunities as the recipient of top offensive minutes.

Mats Zuccarello, NYR vs. STL ($5,400): The Blues enter on the second leg of back-to-back road games after beating the Islanders on Monday, albeit with little travel. Still, Zuccarello presents excellent value at this price and has recorded a goal and four assists through the first three games of the season. It's also worth noting that the 30-year-old winger is skating with the No. 1 power-play unit. St. Louis likely starting Carter Hutton is a downgrade from Jake Allen, too.

Brock Boeser, VAN vs. OTT ($3,400): This recommendation hinges on the rookie slotting into the lineup after being a healthy scratch in the season opener, but if Boeser's a go, expect a solid showing. He recorded five points -- four goals -- during a nine-game debut last year, and then registered scored four goals and added three helpers through five preseason games this fall. The price is right to take a flier, especially if Boeser lines up alongside Bo Horvat.

DEFENSE

Oliver Ekman-Larsson, ARI at VGK ($4,800): While Ekman-Larsson hasn't exploded out of the gate with just an assist, four shots and a blocked shot through the first two games, he remains a strong option at this price. He's logged 24:16 of ice time with 3:31 on the power play per game to start the year, and the Golden Knights are ripe for a letdown showing following consecutive wins to open the season.

Trevor Daley, DET at DAL ($3,900): The veteran is receiving power-play looks and has averaged 23:07 of ice time through the first two games of the season. The jury is still out on whether the Stars have improved their goaltending situation or team defense, so at this salary, Daley is in play as a source of cap relief. After all, Dallas allowed the most goals per 60 minutes (9.7) while shorthanded and owned the worst penalty-kill percentage (73.9) in the league.
