Originally signed by the Rangers in 2012 as an undrafted free agent, the 24-year-old Hrivik has spent parts of his last four seasons fine tuning his play at AHL Hartford. The Slovakian winger has consistently increased his offensive output, posting a career-best 33 points (12 goals) in 72 games for Hartford last season. While it’s not out of the question for Hrivik to make the Rangers' roster for Opening Night, it’s very likely the he heads back to Hartford for another tour of duty.
After posting a more than point-per-game pace (204 points in 179 games) over three seasons with Moncton of the QMJHL, the Slovakian-born Hrivik certainly had his share of high expectations. Having logged an impressive 27 points in 41 AHL games with Hartford of the AHL, the 22-year-old left-winger entered the 2013-14 campaign as one of the most watched Rangers prospects. Little was produced in terms of his development as the 6-foot-1 Hrivik posted just 27 points (13 goals) in his first full season (74 games). We're not saying he's off the radar, but this season will certainly serve as a gauge for the young talent's future with the organization.
After the Slovakian born 21-year-old scored 93 goals and collected 111 assists over three seasons with Moncton of the QMJHL, the Rangers signed Hrivik as an undrafted free agent. Hrivik then played in just nine games with AHL affiliate Hartford Wolf Pack, in 2010-11, recovering from a concussion, Hrivik notched seven goals and 19 assists in 40 games last season. More recently, he impressed at the Rangers' annual prospect development camp this season. “You dream of (reaching the NHL) as a kid, and now you have the chance. So I will do everything I can to make that a reality, ” Hrivik was quoted as saying at BlueshirtsUnited.com. He's an interesting forward to monitor for both keeper league and mixed annual redraft owners to watch during training camp.
