Pittsburgh placed Alexander (Achilles) on its injured reserve list Tuesday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Alexander will spend the remainder of the season on the injured reserve list after sustaining a ruptured Achilles on Sunday versus the Packers. In the meantime, 2022 seventh-rounder Mark Robinson is likely to see additional opportunities at inside linebacker.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Getting look from Pittsburgh
Alexander will visit with the Steelers on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The veteran linebacker played last season for the Jets and didn't miss a game due to injury for the first time since 2016, although he saw a limited role in the New York defense. If Alexander does sign with Pittsburgh, he would likely be a depth option once again, working behind expected starters Cole Holcomb and Elandon Roberts on the inside.

Alexander has top-12 linebacker IDP upside when healthy, but he's had tremendously bad injury luck the past couple years, to the point that it's casting doubt over his long-term durability. He missed four games with a hamstring injury in 2017, tore an ACL in 2018 and suffered a pectoral tear in October 2019. Upon his return last year, he then suffered a biceps injury that required offseason surgical repair. Those injuries are numerous but also all over the place, perhaps offering some reassurance that he's avoided any chronic conditions. Dre Greenlaw played reasonably well in Alexander's place as a 2019 fifth-round pick, however, so there's a non-zero risk that Alexander loses some share of the snap workload if he continues to miss practice reps.
