ANALYSIS
The team replaced Swoope with newly signed tight end MarQueis Gray. Swoope will hope to latch on with another squad quickly, but the 28-year-old Miami product is unlikely to be a difference-maker regardless of where he lands.

Swoope was retained on a modest one-year contract that will keep him in Indianapolis for another season. Despite his full recovery from a knee injury that prevented him from playing a single game in 2017, Swoope enters the 2018 campaign as the clear third option behind 2017 breakout player Jack Doyle and offseason pickup Eric Ebron. Since both of these players have significantly more upside as pass catchers than Swoope does, there seems to be little chance for Swoope to gain fantasy relevance if both Doyle and Ebron stay healthy.
The former basketball player will take on a larger role in 2017 with Dwayne Allen now in New England. Swoope will now push for the No. 2 spot on the depth chart behind Jack Doyle and while he primarily served as a blocker last season, the 25-year-old seems likely to be more incorporated into pass-catching responsibilities this season. At 6-foot-5, Swoope represents a large target that could be of particular value in the red zone.
Swoope, a former University of Miami basketball player, figures to get a chance to become the No. 2 tight end for the Colts following the offseason departure of Coby Fleener. However, Jack Doyle waits in the wings, and the two will compete for playing time behind entrenched-starter Dwayne Allen. The bottom line: Swoope's fantasy value hinges on his depth chart rank, but, if given the chance, he could emerge as an option in deep or 2-TE fantasy leagues given the pass-happy nature of the Colts' offense.
The 6-5, 220-pound Swoope, who played college basketball for the University of Miami, signed a contract with the Colts as an undrafted free agent and spent the full season on the practice squad. The Colts are hoping they can have the same success of turning a top college basketball player into a tight end along the lines of Jimmy Graham and Antonio Gates. However, it's unlikely he'll have any role in the offense as Indy has a deep receiver corps and two strong pass catching tight ends.
Swoope, who played college basketball for the University of Miami, signed a contract with the Colts as an undrafted free agent. At 6-5, 220, the Colts are hoping they can have the same success of turning a top college basketball player into a tight end along the lines of Jimmy Graham and Antonio Gates. Swoope didn't play football in college and hasn't played organized football at any level. After not cracking the 53-man roster, the best-case scenario is likely that he sticks on the practice squad and can develop into a viable football player in 2015.
