Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

Guards

Ben Simmons, PHI vs. MIA ($49): Simmons is the only healthy guard above $30, and he's earned this lofty price tag. The rookie has scored between 50 and 53 fantasy points in all four of his playoff games. That's no surprise considering he averaged 43 fantasy points per game in the regular season, and he's facing a Miami defense that's really struggling right now. The Heat own the second-worst defense defensive efficiency in these playoffs, ranking ahead of only the Trail Blazers, who were swept in four games.

Patty Mills, SAN at GS ($10): Mills has quietly been playing a huge role for the Spurs in this postseason, averaging over 33 minutes per game. That's an unbelievable number of minutes from a minimum-priced player, and the fantasy production has been solid, too, with Mills averaging over 23 fantasy points per game in his last three outings. That's one of the best per-dollar averages you'll find, as Mills makes it much easier to get Simmons or Giannis Antetokounmpo into your lineup.

Guard to Avoid

Eric Bledsoe, MIL at BOS ($28): Bledsoe has had a nightmare of a postseason, and in my opinion his price should be closer to $20 with his recent form. Not only has he failed to reach 32 fantasy points in five-straight games, but Bledsoe is averaging just 23 fantasy points per game in that span. It's no surprise when looking at the matchup, as Boston owned the best defensive efficiency rating in the NBA throughout the regular season. Bledsoe averaged fewer than 23 fantasy points per game in two regular-season meetings against the Celtics, as well.

Forwards

Giannis Antetokounmpo, MIL at BOS ($53): Antetokounmpo is the highest-priced player on the slate and he's averaging 52 fantasy points per game in this series. Antetokounmpo has posted a usage rate north of 30 over the last four games, while averaging more than 15 shots and eight free-throws per game. It's imperative to get either Simmons or Antetokounmpo into your lineup -- fading both would be a deathwish

Al Horford, BOS vs. MIL ($28): Horford has just owned the Bucks all season, as he's become one of the go-to options on this offense in the absence of Kyrie Irving. In fact, Horford is averaging nearly 39 fantasy points per game in seven meetings with the Bucks this season. His mid-season slump appears to be a thing of the past. Milwaukee really struggled with opposing centers this season, allowing the sixth-most fantasy points to the position in the regular season.

Forward to Avoid

Robert Covington, PHI vs. MIA ($25): Covington is simply not the same player with everyone healthy. Since Joel Embiid's returned from injury, Covington has played less than 28 minutes in back-to-back games, and he's only cracked 33 fantasy points once in his last nine games while scoring fewer than 23 fantasy points in three of his last five outings.

Centers

Hassan Whiteside, MIA at PHI ($19): Whiteside hasn't given us much reason to use him, but he should be used more heavily with Joel Embiid healthy. That showed in the most recent game, when he collected 28 fantasy points in 26 minutes. Whiteside is one of the riskiest plays out there, but he's also the sort of player who can win you a tournament if he clicks.

Thon Maker, MIL at BOS ($13): With John Henson out the last two games, Maker is in one of the best stretches of his career. Over his last two games, Maker is averaging 32 fantasy points per game in 27 minutes of action. That's monster production from a $13 player, and he's one of the only players south of $15 players on this slate posting numbers like those.

Center to Avoid

Pau Gasol, SAN at GS ($17): Gasol just hasn't been playing enough to be usable at this point, as he's yet to reach 20 minutes of action in this postseason. His fantasy production has suffered as a result, with Gasol failing to top 21 fantasy points in six straight games. Golden State is a nightmare matchup for Gasol and other slower centers, and the Warriors allowed the second-fewest fantasy points per game to the position during the regular season.
