FanDuel MLB: Tuesday All-Star Plays

FanDuel MLB: Tuesday All-Star Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Want to make the MLB All-Star Game a little more exciting? How about a daily fantasy contest? Pick one player as your MVP — his points will be worth 1.5x — plus four more players with a $35,000 salary cap.

MVP

Jose Ramirez, AL vs. NL ($8,000): Ramirez has a 1.029 OPS and 29 home runs. He's actually tied with J.D. Martinez for the most homers in the majors. Cleveland fans got Ramirez into the starting lineup of the All-Star Game, so he should get a chance to have a couple at-bats. That certainly will help him from a fantasy perspective.

UTILITY/P

Chris Sale, AL vs. NL ($9,000): For this contest, you get three points every inning pitched, and three points for every strikeout. As a starter, there's a good chance Sale will get a second inning. That definitely helps. Additionally, he leads all qualified starters with a 13.12 K/9 rate. So if you want strikeouts plus innings pitched, Sale is your best bet.

Javier Baez, NL at AL ($6,500): Baez likes to put on a show, which is ideal for the All-Star Game environment. Why not have a guy swinging for the fences? The 25-year-old has a .566 slugging percentage with 19 homers, and on top of that he has 18 stolen bases. If he gets on base, he might try to swipe a bag, which could pay off for you if he's in your lineup. The Cub is also a starter, for what it's worth.

Francisco Lindor, AL vs. NL ($6,500): Lindor isn't starting, but it's hard to put together a lineup of just players who will start the game. Furthermore, sometimes reserves get multiple innings, and somebody like Lindor has the skills to deserve that. He's slashing .291/.367/.562 with 25 homers and 13 stolen bases in 94 games. Depending on who is pitching when he gets into the game, Lindor could find himself in an advantageous position.

Michael Brantley, AL vs. NL ($5,000): Brantley has averaged 11.8 fantasy points per game, and he is no flash in the pan. He's always been a talented, but often hurt, player. This year, he's been healthy, and he has an .848 OPS. That number rises to .906 against righties, so if Brantley catches a good matchup he could pay off quite well at this price.
