2024 Fantasy Outlook
Sborz opened the 2023 campaign on the IL with an ankle injury that he suffered late in spring training. He was activated in mid-April and filled a multi-inning relief role for the Rangers, but eventually ascended into a setup role. The 30-year-old racked up six wins and 14 holds for the World Series champions, but spent more time on the injured list later in the season with various ailments. Sborz's 36.9 whiff percentage was a 98th percentile metric and he finished with a 30-plus percent strikeout rate for the second straight season. His ERA was inflated at 5.50, but his xERA was 3.35 and his 1.15 WHIP was a top-50 mark among qualified relievers. There's definitely some upside in his profile, but Sborz has been injured on five separate occasions over the past two seasons, making it hard to justify the fantasy investment even in the deepest of leagues. Sborz threw a scoreless ninth inning in Thursday's 4-3 loss to Seattle.
ANALYSIS
Sborz, who was activated off the injured list Thursday, retired the side in order, needing just nine pitches. He was placed on the IL due to a shoulder injury April 7 after just three appearances. The back end of the bullpen has changed since then -- Kirby Yates replaced Jose Leclerc as the closer -- but Sborz should remain part of the setup group.

2022 Fantasy Outlook
Sborz was a largely dependable (read: healthy) arm for the Rangers' bullpen in 2021, although the the 28-year-old righty was susceptible to hard contact and near the bottom of the league in exit velocity (91.1 mph). Despite the contact, he managed to keep the ball in the park. Home runs were never an issue in the minors, and he managed to not to get burned often in 59 MLB innings. Along with the hard contact, Sborz had an issue with walks. He had a 12.5 percent walk rate and issued nearly five free passes per nine innings. He's expected to pitch in a variety situations as a middle reliever.
