Past Fantasy Outlooks

2014
2012
Stankiewicz was a durable starter for Low-A Greenville in 2014, making 25 starts and throwing 140.1 innings. At 6-4, he has an ideal pitcher's build with room for growth. There's not a whole lot of flash to his stuff, but he knows how to pitch and could be an innings-munching fourth/fifth starter in the majors if he continues to throw strikes.
Stankiewicz, selected 45th overall in the 2013 draft after one season at Seminole State College, was brought along slowly at short-season Lowell, throwing between one and three innings per start. His signing bonus was reduced after his physical revealed a minor issue, hence the slow pace at Lowell. In nine starts, he pitched a total of 19.2 innings. Small sample-size alert, but Stankiewicz dominated the New York-Penn League with a 15:2 K:BB. The 6-foot-4 righty is repeatable with his delivery and has an ideal pitcher's body with room for growth, so there's some upside. His fastball lives in the 89-93 mph range, and he throws a mid-70s curve and low-80s change. He'll mix in a slider, too, but that's still developing. Stankiewicz will probably open the year at Low-A Greenville, but could move quickly to High-A Salem if he dominates the South Atlantic League as he did at Lowell in 2013.
Drafted in the second round of the 2012 Draft by the Mets but failed to come to terms.
