FanDuel NHL: Wednesday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Wednesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Goalie

Jimmy Howard, DET at TOR ($7,800): Outside of one bad effort in his last time out, Howard has been good overall this season. In his first three games, Howard went through a stretch in which he allowed two goals or less in each, had three wins, and made at least 33 saves in all three contests. The Maple Leafs offense has been hot, but Howard has held his own thus far and is very affordable.

Center

Nick Schmaltz, CHI at STL ($5,000): Schmaltz has missed the last four games due to injury, but he is expected to be back Wednesday. Skating on the Blackhawks' second line with Ryan Hartman and Patrick Kane, Schmaltz had two goals and one assist in his first two games this season. He sees time on the second power-play unit for the high octane, Hawks who are fourth in the NHL with 4.17 goals per game.

Dylan Larkin, DET at TOR ($5,400): One of the fastest skaters in the league, Larkin could give the Maple Leafs fits tonight. The Leafs will be playing their second game in as many nights, and outside of their performance Tuesday evening, they've been a defensive liability. Heading into Tuesday, the Leafs had allowed 3.80 goals per game. Larkin has one goal, five assists, and has averaged over 19 minutes of ice time this season.

Wing

Anthony Mantha, DET at TOR ($5,300): The Maple Leafs have allowed the third most fantasy points to opposing left wingers this season with seven goals and nine assists against. With three goals and four assists to go along with 17 shots on goal, Mantha looks to be very comfortable skating with playmaking captain Henrik Zetterberg on the top line.

Dustin Brown, LAK vs MTL ($4,500): Brown continues to produce and I'm going to ride the wave until it settles. With four goals, three assists, and 20 shots on goal in five games, Brown has stepped up on a line with Anze Kopitar while also seeing time on the Kings' top power-play unit.

Ryan Hartman, CHI at STL ($4,900): Hartman is skating on the second line for the Blackhawks alongside Nick Schmaltz and Patrick Kane and is also on the second power-play unit. He has two goals and six assists this season and should see plenty of opportunities against a Blues team that is allowing 35.5 shots on goal per game, third most in the league.

Defense

Morgan Rielly, TOR vs DET ($4,300): While he hasn't lit the lamp himself, Rielly has five assists in five games with 17 shots on goal over that span. He's seen at least 20 minutes of ice time in all but two games, and features on the top pairing and top power-play unit.

Alec Martinez, LAK vs MTL ($4,400): Martinez is still getting his legs under him after missing most of the first week of the season with an injury. He's played an average of 23 minutes in the last two games, and is still underpriced given his offensive skillset and role on the second defense pairing and top power-play unit.
