FantasyDraft NHL: Tuesday Values

FantasyDraft NHL: Tuesday Values

This article is part of our FantasyDraft NHL series.

GOALIE

Ottawa Senators, OTT at VAN ($16,100): The Canucks have only played one game this season, but last year they had one of the league's worst offenses. They scored the second fewest goals per game (2.17) and put the fewest shots on net per contest (27.7). Ottawa's Craig Anderson had a 2.28 GAA last year.

CENTER

Jason Spezza, DAL vs. DET ($10,300): Spezza's numbers were a little down last season, but he still managed 19 power-play points in 68 games, and he started 52.4 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone. The Red Wings allowed 2.98 goals per game on average last season, and that number went up to 3.27 on the road.

Clayton Keller, ARI at VGK ($9,200): There are many who think Keller is the top prospect in the NHL at the moment. So far, he has one goal, but what's more notable is that he has nine shots through two games. Plus, he's averaged 21:10, and 3:45 on the power play. The Golden Knights have exceeded all expectations so far, but they are still an expansion team.

WING

Artemi Panarin, CLM at CAR ($13,500): In Chicago, Panarin was often given the benefit of starting in the offensive zone. That remains true with Columbus thus far, as he's started 56.3 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone. Scott Darling is getting his first chance to be a starter in the NHL, and his first start was one to forget (3.69 GAA, .852 save percentage).

James Neal, VGK vs. ARI ($11,700): Vegas has treated Neal quite well thus far. He already has three goals as the new face of the Golden Knights, and he's put eight shots on net. Neal is also a proven commodity, as he has never failed to hit the 20-goal threshold in his career. The Coyotes gave up a whopping 34.2 shots on net per game on average last season, and this year has not seen them curb that so far. They've given up 83 shots on net through two games.

J.T. Miller, NYR vs. STL ($9,200): In each of his last two seasons, Miller has tallied 22 goals for the Rangers. This year, he has three points in three games. The Blues are the only team Tuesday playing on the second night of a back-to-back, and they are also on the road. Since Jake Allen started Monday, backup Carter Hutton will be in net for St. Louis. That increases Miller's potential for fantasy success, and his price makes him a nice potential value.

DEFENSEMEN

Dion Phaneuf, OTT at VAN ($9,400): With Erik Karlsson out, more is falling on Phaneuf's shoulders, and the veteran has been up to it thus far. Through two games, he's averaged 24:50 in ice time, tallying two points and eight shots on goal. Last year, he had 16 power-play points, and the Canucks had the 22nd-ranked penalty kill. Vancouver's netminder is Jacob Markstrom, who has a .906 career save percentage.

Nate Schmidt, VGK vs. ARI ($6,600): The move from Washington to Vegas has given Schmidt a much larger role. He's averaged 20:38 a night, and for the first time in his career he's getting real power-play time. Arizona had the 24th-ranked penalty kill last year, in addition to their others defensive woes. Schmidt has earned Vegas' confidence with three points through two games. At this price, he should have yours as well.
