FanDuel NHL: Saturday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Saturday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

The four remaining Eastern Conference teams take the ice Saturday with the Rangers and Capitals looking to even their respective series. Here are a number of selections to consider while assembling your FanDuel lineups.

GOALIE

Henrik Lundqvist, NYR at OTT ($8,800): The veteran was outstanding again in the Game 1 of the series, sporting a .948 save percentage and 1.75 GAA in the postseason. Count on a bounce-back showing from the Blueshirts.

CENTER

Nicklas Backstrom, WAS vs. PIT ($7,000): After being held off the scoresheet in Game 1, Backstrom will need to be better if Washington is going to tie this series. The pivot still has just a single power-play point in the playoffs, and he was on the ice for 13 scoring chances against Pittsburgh on Thursday, so there's plenty of upside.

Mika Zibanejad, NYR at OTT ($5,600):
The center has a goal, three assists and 12 shots over his past five games and provides a high floor relative to his salary because of his offensive role. Zibanejad has averaged 17:00 of ice time with 2:27 on the power play during the playoffs, and he's been on the ice for 10.9 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes -- the second most on New York.

WING

Alex Ovechkin, WAS vs. PIT ($8,500): No. 8 scored in Game 1, and he was on the ice for 14 scoring chances, including four of the high-danger variety. Ovechkin has four tallies through seven playoff games and is still looking for his first multi-point showing. With this series likely to be a back-and-forth battle, the Caps evening it behind a solid outing from Ovechkin is strong lean Saturday.

Jake Guentzel, PIT at WAS ($6,700):
Dating to the regular season, Guentzel has 10 goals and 15 points through his past 11 games. He's locked into a top-line role with Sidney Crosby, and the duo posted an incredible 3.51 goals per 60 minutes at five-on-five during the regular season.

Pavel Buchnevich, NYR at OTT ($3,300):
The rookie played on an intriguing line with Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider in Game 1, and Buchnevich collected a power-play assist while logging 15:42 of ice time (2:14 with the man advantage). It's also encouraging that Buchnevich was on the ice for five high-danger scoring chances in the opening game of the series.

DEFENSE

Ryan McDonagh, NYR at OTT ($5,600): The New York captain has heated up lately with a goal, three points, nine shots and 12 blocked shots over his past four games. McDonagh has logged 26:42 of ice time with 2:06 on the power play during that four-game stretch, so his role and cross-category profile make him a solid value at this salary.

Kevin Shattenkirk, WAS vs. PIT ($5,300):
There have been some defensive struggles in the playoffs for Shattenkirk, but he's still logging the right minutes and was on the ice for 11 scoring chances in Game 1. Shattenkirk's sharing the ice with Washington's top offensive scorers, so the offensive results are within reach.
