A heady forward prospect from Harvard, Malone is a two-time NCAA (ECAC) champion in Buffalo's pipeline. Unfortunately, he sustained a knee injury in the preseason and assuredly will be relegated to AHL Rochester once he's healthy enough to play in games.
The two-way Harvard forward scored 42 points in 36 games in his senior season, and signed an entry-level deal with the Sabres shortly afterwards. He will spend most of his rookie season with AHL Rochester as he gets acclimated to the pros. Malone had a nagging hip injury that held him out of the Prospects Challenge, so expect him to have some ups and downs.
