Thought it would be a good idea to start a thread regarding middle of the pack to bottom of the barrel kind of starting pitchers who have fantasy value for next year. Maybe give a few reasons why you think someone has good value for next year.

Ill start with Aaron Nola

Finished the 2016 season with a 4.78 era in 111 innings. Whip in april and may remained under 1 and k9 was around 9.5. He ended the year with a 1.31 whip but possibly some of this can be due to his right elbow strain in august.

Nola posted a E-F ratio of 1.70 which is probably one of the highest in the league. His Siera was 3.29 compared to 2015 when it was 3.66. Nola's LOB was 60% which was under the league average however with the increased K rate, he may be able to withstand this.

Nola seemed to change the way he pitches slightly by incorporating more curve balls (up 10%, and fastball was down 6%). This change could have caused his ground ball percentage to go from 48% in 2015 to 55% in 2016. His hr/fb ratio was down almost 3 percent to 12.8.

Maybe with the healthy elbow his season ending stats could have been better, lets hope it heals properly and we will see what 2017 delivers but I think this could be a guy to look out for in later rounds.

Drew Smyly for me.He was hit hard after coming back last season and he's a much better SP than last years numbers indicate.I view him as a 3-4 guy you can get at a decent price with some good upside.
