Is anyone afraid of him a little bit this year? If they trade Roberts then he will be in the worst lineup in baseball. Nobody to drive in and nobody to drive him in. He might get pitched around like Bonds. Rotowire has him 9th on their OF rankings. I just cant put him anywhere that high.

I do not think there is one opposing pitcher in MLB that compares Markakis to Bonds, no matter how bad the Orioles lineup is.  Sure he is talented, but he has a long way to go before he strikes fear in opposing pitchers ala Barry Bonds.  I do think his numbers could actually go up this year...he has a chance to hit 4th if the Orioles are bad enough...and most cleanup hitters get to 100 rbi

I'm really not that worried. There may be a drag on his stats somewhat, but I think it will be negligible. This is the same concern that everyone was having about Miguel Cabrera last year, and I was able to pick him up in several leagues on the cheap, and he worked out well. I also had Markakis in a couple of leagues last year, and he was a great addition to my teams. And the offense around him wasn't that great then. Whoever ends up batting around him will still be the better hitters on a major league baseball team, and while it may not be the Tigers, I'm betting that they will still be talented hitters. (The same bet I took last year on Cabrera) Markakis is a very talented hitter himself, and that will end up coming through in my opinion.

With no Tejada this yr, I think his RUN totals may drop. RBI's you can expect about the same. I think the Adam Jones trade  will help his value more next year than this year. You can expect:

99- 27- 105- 15- .297 enough to rank him in the top 60.

See Jay Gibbons circa 2003, who batted cleanup in an awful lineup: .277/.330/.456, 80 R, 23 HR, 100 RBI

The best middle-order hitters around Gibbons were:

Melvin Mora: .317/.418/.503, 68 R, 15 HR, 48 RBI (344 AB)
Tony Batista: .235/.270/.393, 76 R, 26 HR, 99 RBI (631 AB)
Jeff Conine: .290/.338/.460, 75 R, 15 HR, 80 RBI (493 AB)
Luis Matos: .303/.353/.458, 70 R, 13 HR, 45 RBI (439 AB)

Markakis is a much better hitter than Gibbons, and arguably has at least similar hitters around him (it depends if Roberts stays).  Though I wouldn't be surprised if Dave Trembley leaves Markakis at #3 because he can handle the bat so well, and because there's so little speed among other middle-order players.  Here's what I think the lineup would be if the season started today:

1 - 2B Roberts
2 - 3B Mora
3 - RF Markakis
4 - DH Huff
5 - 1B Millar
6 - C R. Hernandez
7 - LF Scott
8 - CF Jones
9 - SS L. Hernandez

I dont think he will be awful but when its time for this guy to be drafted sometime in the early rounds it will be easy for me to pass him and go to the next guy on my list is what I am saying.
