Gameday Injuries: Week 2

This column is meant to offer our best predictions on what players will/will not play, as of 8 AM ET on Sunday. For the official active/inactive reports, please see our Latest NFL Player News.

QUARTERBACKS

The euphoria felt by Sam Bradford's fantasy owners following his 346-yard effort in the opener has given way to significant concern about his Week 2 availability, as the 29-year-old quarterback projects as a game-time decision against the Steelers due to a left knee injury. The final call is slated to be made following pre-game warmups. Case Keenum would get the start if Bradford can't go, downgrading the fantasy prospects of Stefon Diggs, Adam Thielen and Kyle Rudolph, but potentially somewhat brightening those of Dalvin Cook.

The Colts' Andrew Luck's absence due to a shoulder injury extends into Week 2, with no definitive timetable for return as of yet. Jacoby Brissett will be behind center Sunday against the Cardinals.

The Panthers' Cam Newton popped up as a limited participant on Thursday's practice report for what turned out to be rest purposes, but he was a full participant Friday and doesn't carry an injury designation heading into Week 2 against the Bills.

RUNNING BACKS

The Bears' Jordan Howard is expected to play through the shoulder injury that has him listed as questionable heading into the Week 2 tilt versus the Bucs.

The Cardinals' David Johnson is out until December according to latest reports, having just undergone surgery on his dislocated left

The Cardinals' David Johnson is out until December according to latest reports, having just undergone surgery on his dislocated left wrist Thursday. Kerwynn Williams gets first crack at the starting running back job beginning Sunday.

The Seahawks' Thomas Rawls (ankle) was left off the final Week 2 injury report after logging three full practices during the week.

The Bills' LeSean McCoy was dealing with wrist and groin issues following the Week 1 victory over the Jets, and despite being rested for Friday's practice, he did not carry an injury designation on the final injury report for Week 2 versus the Panthers.

The Jaguars' T.J. Yeldon's full practice participation all week leaves him on track to make his regular-season debut against the Titans on Sunday, likely as the primary passing-down back.

The Broncos' Devontae Booker (wrist) is already ruled out for Week 2 versus the Cowboys despite turning in limited practices all week. However, he appears set for a Week 3 season debut.

The Dolphins' Jay Ajayi dealt with some knee soreness early in the practice week but doesn't carry an injury designation heading into Sunday's game against the Chargers.

The Ravens' Danny Woodhead has been placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, opening up significant opportunity for Javorious Allen beginning in Week 2.

WIDE RECEIVERS

The Giants' Odell Beckham, Jr. projects as a game-time decision with an ankle injury for the second consecutive week, although his chances of taking the field Monday night against the Lions are reportedly much stronger than they were heading into the opener. Limited practices Thursday and Friday lend credence to that narrative, but pre-game warmups should serve as the final determinant of his status.

The Dolphins' Jarvis Landry experienced a swollen knee Friday, leading to a limited practice and an appearance on the final Week 2 injury report. Despite being listed as questionable, head coach Adam Gase has indicated he expects Landry to play.

The Cardinals' John Brown is out for Sunday's matchup versus the Colts after apparently re-aggravating his quad injury in the opener and missing practice all week.

The Bears' Markus Wheaton (finger) is questionable heading into Sunday's Week 2 tilt against the Bucs after logging limited practices all week, with the fifth-year veteran shaping up as a true game-time call for a receiver-needy Chicago squad.

The Cowboys' Terrance Williams(ankle) missed practice both Wednesday and Thursday before turning in a limited session Friday in which he reportedly moved around well. Listed as questionable, he's trending towards a game-time call for a tough Week 2 matchup at Denver.

The Lions' Golden Tate emerged from Week 1 with a splint on his left ring finger but was back to full practices Friday and Saturday. He's expected to be a full go against the Giants on Monday night.

The Chargers' Dontrelle Inman practiced fully all week despite nursing a groin injury, but he still ended up with a questionable designation on the final injury report heading into Week 2 against the Dolphins. His level of activity lends credence to the notion he'll take the field Sunday.

Meanwhile, Inman's teammate Mike Williams (back) remains out for Sunday's contest, but he encouragingly returned to the practice field in limited fashion Friday and remains on track for an October return.

The Patriots' Danny Amendola is already ruled out of Sunday's showdown with the Saints with a concussion and a knee injury. New England's remaining offensive skill players could all see a boost in opportunity of varying degree as a result.

The Raiders' Amari Cooper turned in full practices Thursday and Friday, so his minor knee ailment isn't of concern heading into Sunday's matchup against the Jets.

TIGHT ENDS

The Bills' Charles Clay logged full practices Thursday and Friday after being limited with a shoulder injury Wednesday, making him a full go for Week 2 against the Panthers.

KEY DEFENSIVE PLAYERS

The Bucs' Kwon Alexander is probable for Week 2 against the Bears after fighting through an illness to turn in a full practice on Friday.

The Panthers' Thomas Davis (knee) is ready to go for Week 2 against the Bills after turning in full practices Thursday and Friday.

Prince Amukamara is questionable with an ankle injury heading into Week 2 against the Bucs, putting his Bears regular-season debut in jeopardy once again.

The Broncos' Aqib Talib was a full practice participant Friday after sitting out Thursday's session with an Achilles issue. He should therefore be good to go against the Cowboys on Sunday.

The Colts' Vontae Davis remains out for Week 2 with a groin injury after missing practice all week.

The Browns' Myles Garrett (ankle) remains out until at least Week 3.

The Cardinals' Karlos Dansby shook off a shin injury that caused him to miss Wednesday's practice and is good to go versus the Colts on Sunday.

The Jaguars' Jalen Ramsey heads into Sunday's contest against the Titans as a game-time decision after missing practice all week with an ankle injury, although he reportedly expects to play.

The Chargers' Jason Verrett is already declared out with a knee injury for Sunday's Week 2 tilt against the Dolphins, brightening the prospects of the Miami passing game to an extent.

The Vikings' Xavier Rhodes turned in limited practices Thursday and Friday due to a hip injury and is officially questionable for Sunday's contest against the Steelers. He's trending toward playing, although a final decision will presumably come after pre-game warmups.

Rhodes' teammate Anthony Barr (hamstring) was limited Friday after missing Wednesday and Thursday and is also listed as questionable.

The Seahawks' Richard Sherman (hamstring) shapes up as a game-time call for Sunday's Week 2 tilt against the 49ers after logging just one practice during the week – a limited session Friday in which he reportedly looked good enough to earn a questionable designation.

The news is better for Sherman's teammate K.J. Wright, who's not listed on the final Week 2 injury report after being limited earlier in the week with an ankle injury.

The Patriots' Dont'a Hightower is out for Sunday's game against the Saints with the knee injury he sustained in the season-opening loss to the Chiefs.

The Ravens' Eric Weddle is good to go against the Browns after missing the first practice of the week with an illness.

The Titans' Johnathan Cyprien is out for the next several weeks with a hamstring injury.

The Rams have officially activated Aaron Donald after he missed all of training camp and preseason due to a contract holdout and he's fully expected to suit up Sunday.
