2023 Fantasy Outlook
McCord has big shoes to fill following the departure of C.J. Stroud to the NFL. Although another highly-touted quarterback, Devin Brown, has also received reps this offseason, McCord figures to be the Buckeyes’ starter come fall. His experience has been limited to mop-up duty thus far in his career, but that can result in significant playing time on a team as dominant as Ohio State. McCord has tossed for 606 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in the past two seasons. He’s set to inherit an offense with an embarrassment of riches at the skill positions, including two of the nation’s best receivers in Marvin Harrison and Emeka Egbuka. Throw in the dynamic one-two punch of TreVeyon Henderson and Miyan Williams in the backfield, and the Buckeyes’ offense should be as explosive as ever. It may take the quarterback a few games to find his footing, as it did with C.J. Stroud, but all signs point to McCord being the next NFL-caliber quarterback Ohio State trots out under center. Commits to Syracuse
McCord is committed to transferring to Syracuse, Pete Thamel of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
McCord chose to enter the transfer portal after a breakout season with Ohio State in 2023, thereby establishing himself as arguably the top quarterback available to switch colleges this offseason. He finished this year with 229 completions for 3,170 yards and a 24:6 TD:INT ratio across 12 games, all but one of them wins. Following his enrollment at Syracuse, McCord is expected to replace Garrett Shrader as the Orange's starting quarterback and help establish them as one of the ACC's premier teams.
