DraftKings MLB: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

Pitcher

Dallas Keuchel, HOU vs. BAL ($11,000): The Orioles sport a 24.0 percent strikeout rate against left-handed pitching and Keuchel has already exceeded 30 fantasy points in two starts this season while also hitting or eclipsing 20 fantasy points in five others. He's been nearly unhittable at home as well, averaging 26.3 fantasy points and generating an 0.94 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and .156 BAA in 28.2 innings across four starts.

Kyle Freeland, COL vs. STL ($6,000): Freeland has been one of the surprises of the Rockies staff, and he's posted a respectable 3.80 ERA and .244 BAA at Coors Field over four starts. He's eclipsed 20 fantasy points in two starts this season as well and will face a Cardinals squad that's ranked third worst in the NL and sixth worst in the majors versus left-handed pitching with a .286 wOBA, including .263 over 202 plate appearances versus that handedness on the road.

Catcher

Evan Gattis, HOU vs. BAL ($3,600): Gattis owns a .429 bating average with two doubles and two RBI over 16 career plate appearances against Orioles southpaw Wade Miley, who's surrendered a .346 wOBA, four homers, a 23.1 percent line drive rate and 35.4 percent hard contact rate on the road to right-handed hitters. Gattis owns a .344 wOBA , 20.0 percent line drive rate and 30.0 percent hard contact rate versus southpaws at Minute Maid Park, while the Orioles bullpen has given up a .338 wOBA, 14 homers and a 33.1 percent hard contact rate to right-handed hitters.

First Base

Buster Posey, SF vs. ATL ($4,100): Posey has already touched up Braves starter Mike Foltynewicz for a couple of homers and four RBI in just six career plate appearances and owns a .424 wOBA at home, including a .464 wOBA (along with a massive 38.1 percent line drive rate) versus righty arms there. He's sporting a .437 wOBA over 91 plate appearances in May as well, while Foltynewicz has yielded a 5.14 ERA, .395 wOBA, four homers and a robust 30.6 percent line drive rate in four May starts. Furthermore, the Braves 'pen has given up a 5.40 ERA, 15 homers and a .347 wOBA to righty bats.

Second Base

Jose Altuve, HOU vs. BAL ($5,000): Altuve has battered Miley for a .600 average with four doubles, a homer and three RBI over 20 career plate appearances, while Miley's issues against right-handed hitters – as well as those of the Orioles' bullpen -- were detailed earlier. Altuve also owns a .352 wOBA against southpaws, as well as a .344 wOBA over 101 May plate appearances.

Third Base

Nolan Arenado, COL vs. STL ($5,400): The Rockies have one of the highest projected team totals on the slate and Arenado checks in sporting a .361 wOBA, .237 ISO and 38.7 percent hard contact rate over 103 plate appearances in May, along with a .333 average against Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright over 12 career encounters. Wainwright has also surrendered a .423 wOBA over 19 road innings, and a .393 wOBA and 36.4 percent hard contact rate versus righties away from Busch Stadium. Cardinals relievers have been vulnerable in recent weeks to righty bats as well, surrendering a .323 wOBA and four homers to that handedness in May.

Shortstop

Corey Seager, LAD vs. CHC ($4,400): Cubs starter John Lackey has given up a .369 wOBA, seven homers and a 32.5 percent hard contact rate to left-handed hitters, along with a .375 wOBA overall in four May starts. Seager boasts a .392 wOBA, 28.6 percent line drive rate and 47.3 percent hard contact rate against right-handed pitching, and has been hitting the ball better after slumping earlier in May; over his last 11 games, he's compiled a .387 wOBA, 25.9 percent line drive rate and 40.7 hard contact rate.

Outfield

Charlie Blackmon, COL vs. STL ($5,600): Wainwright has been even worse against left-handed hitters, allowing a .368 wOBA overall and a .449 wOBA, 29.0 percent line drive rate and 45.2 percent hard contact rate to lefty bats on the road. Blackmon has compiled a .583 average, two doubles, a triple, a homer and two RBI in 13 career plate appearances versus Wainwright and boasts video game-like numbers with a .586 wOBA, .510 ISO and a 52.7 percent hard contact rate versus right-handed pitching at Coors Field.

Adam Frazier, PIT vs. NYM ($4,500): Frazier has been the story of an otherwise lackluster Pirates offense, and he's now sporting a .440 wOBA, 28.3 line drive rate and 32.6 percent hard contact rate in 62 May plate appearances. His numbers against righties include a .392 wOBA and 32.9 percent hard contact rate, while Mets starter Zack Wheeler has surrendered a .324 wOBA and 46.7 percent hard contact rate to lefty bats.

Matt Kemp, ATL at SF ($4,300): Kemp has touched up lefties for a .525 wOBA, 25.0 percent line drive rate and 50.0 percent hard contact rate over a modest 18-plate appearance sample, and he owns a .376 wOBA over 103 plate appearances this month. Giants starter Ty Blach has admittedly been very good over his last three starts but still sports a .347 wOBA versus right-handed hitters. He's also likely been on the right side of luck at home, as indicated by a .189 overall BABIP and .219 BABIP versus right-handed hitters there.
