FanDuel MLB: Monday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

PITCHER

Daniel Wright, CIN at ATL ($4,400): Stick with this for a minute; Bud Norris was only $4,000 on Friday and turned in 48 fantasy points. For starters, using Wright allows any and all big batters into a lineup. He has arguably the best matchup on the board considering the Braves have a league-worst .277 wOBA against right-handed pitching. The appeal is the price and it's worth noting that in the minors this season he struck out almost a batter per inning and carried an ERA under 1.00 (34 innings between Double-A and Triple-A).

CATCHER

Chris Herrmann, ARI vs LAD ($2,800):Herrmann has been a pleasant surprise for the snakes and the fact that he plays the outfield and first base occasionally but qualifies at catcher is a plus. He holds a .375 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season and opposing starter Michael Bolsinger allowed a .377 wOBA against left-handed hitters away from Chavez Ravine last season and had 17 walks against 19 strikeouts.

FIRST BASE

Jose Abreu, CHI vs DET ($3,400): This isn't a cheap price but there are 10 other first basemen who are more expensive. Abreu has started to turn things around at the plate and has games of at least six fantasy points in all of his 10 June games, including at least 12.2 fantasy points in six of those contests. Now he gets lefty Matt Boyd, who gave up a .550 wOBA to right-handed hitters on the road last season.

SECOND BASE

Joe Panik, SF vs MIL ($3,200): This is a pick that will have a low ownership considering the price and the other options at the position. Panik has at least 6.2 fantasy points in seven of his last nine games and has a good matchup against Chase Anderson, who has a 4.68 ERA on the road and has given up seven home runs in only 32.1 innings. Last season, Panik had a .369 wOBA against right-handed pitching.

THIRD BASE

Jefry Marte, LAA vs MIN ($2,400): This comes as a surprise but Marte has homered in three of his last five games. He next faces off against Ricky Nolasco, who doesn't walk many but has given up seven home runs this season. Marte has moved up in what has been a dormant lineup and should be hitting in the middle of the order, giving him so RBI opportunities.

SHORTSTOP

Marcus Semien, OAK vs TEX ($2,900): When it comes to the Athletics facing a lefty it's usually smart to roster Danny Valencia and Josh Phegley. Semien usually goes under the radar but he's been very good against southpaws, posting a .387 wOBA against them, and last season that mark was .377. Opposing starter Cesar Ramos has struggled with a 4.26 ERA on the road for his career.

OUTFIELD

David Peralta, ARI vs LAD ($2,600): This is way too cheap of a price for Peralta, who absolutely crushes right-handed pitching at home. In the hitter-friendly environment of Chase Field, Peralta put up a .402 wOBA against righties and, as noted, Mike Bolsinger struggles against lefties away from home. Look for Peralta to be hitting cleanup or in the five hole, presenting a great opportunity to rack up some RBI.

Kevin Pillar, TOR vs PHI, ($3,000): This might be a pick a few days too late but it's difficult to ignore the tear Pillar is on. His OPS is over 1.000 over the last week, including multi-hit games in five of his last six, with two home runs. Jerad Eickhoff has a 6.41 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP on the road this season in addition to giving up a .391 wOBA; a Blue Jays stack is a good idea in any format.

Ryan Rua, TEX at OAK, ($3,200): Rua has become more than just a specialist against left-handed pitching but still flourishes against southpaws. On the season, he has a .427 wOBA against lefties and gets a prime matchup against Sean Manaea, who has given up a .382 wOBA to right-handed hitters this season. A little "under the radar" adding to Rua's DFS value is the fact that he can swipe the occasional base, going 6-for-6 this season.
